Notes:

So we come back to the question at the start. Is is ALWAYS best to ask “What would Jesus do?” and once we have decide that we know, to do that?
We must remember that when Jesus found that he was being tempted he had been driven into the wilderness by the spirit – with the single purpose that he must face temptation.
Without the testing that temptation brings it would have been impossible for Jesus to be confident in all that he had seen. He needed to know that he really, truthfully believed it. God needed to know that Jesus really was the right man for the job.
It is possible that we may be forced into a situation where we are tempted, and that temptation is a test of our spirit, our resolve to complete some specific task. In which case, if it happens to you, I hope you know your scripture really well. Being tempted and winning the battle helps us to understand ourselves, and out reliance on God.

There is a limit to the testing that will be allowed:
1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Even though temptation can have a good side, it is not something to be saught, Jesus taught us to pray “Lead us not into temptation”.
